Parts of the Internet The World Wide Web is by far the most popular part of the Internet because it has words, pictures, animation, photos, sound, and video. The parts of the Web include your personal computer, web browser software, a connection to an Internet service provider, computers called servers that store digital data, and routers and switches that act like traffic cops--they direct the flow of information.

Web Browser
A web browser is the software program your computer uses to access the World Wide Web.

Server
A server is a computer connected to the Internet that stores things like web pages and e-mail.
