For the most part, the Internet is a very safe place. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't be careful. Just like in the real world, some people may try to take advantage of you. You may stumble on things that make you uncomfortable or that you don't understand. To keep out of trouble, remember these three simple rules:
1. Don't give out any personal information about yourself unless you check with your parents first.
2. Don't give out your telephone number or parents' credit card number online or in an e-mail message unless they say it's OK.
3. Make sure you tell your parents immediately if you find anything that makes you feel uncomfortable. When you get an annoying phone call, you just hang up, right?
